WHAT WE HEARD FROM SAN DIEGO
Comic-Con lived up to its billing. Darren was on the ground for us. Here's what he brought back — with a few extras to round the picture out.
Marvel returns to Hall H
Marvel Studios came back to Hall H with one of the convention's headline presentations, first Hall H showing since 2024. The biggest focus was Avengers: Doomsday (in cinemas 18 December), with updates across the wider MCU. The reveal that pulled the room to its feet: Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider.
Sci-fi had an exceptional showing
Amazon delivered the first major look at Blade Runner 2099 — Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer on stage together publicly for the first time. Apple brought Neuromancer, its long-awaited adaptation of William Gibson's landmark cyberpunk novel. And Dark Matter Season 2 got its Apple TV+ moment. See the dedicated Blade Runner 2099 section below for our own product tease.
DC in the room — Lanterns
DC / HBO Max brought Lanterns to Hall H, with Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. We're all quietly hoping that Pierre and Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan become the Mulder and Scully of our time — the odd-couple sci-fi partnership modern television has been missing since the '90s.
The X-Files — a recut lands, and something new is coming
Speaking of Mulder and Scully: by the time you're reading this, Chris Carter's recut of The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn will have released. Meanwhile — we are working on some new classic X-Files products down the road, as well as all-new X-Files products for the new Ryan Coogler version coming soon. Watch this space.
Star Trek — 60 years, and just getting started
Star Trek marked its 60th anniversary with a Hall H panel bringing together voices from across the entire franchise (George Takei, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, Doug Jones, Cirroc Lofton, Christina Chong and more, introduced by Rod Roddenberry). A host of other franchise anniversaries land in 2027 — the biggest being the 40th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
D23 Announcements
D23 — THE X-MEN ARE COMING
Marvel's D23 2026 showcase followed hard on the heels of San Diego — and dropped the biggest MCU casting news of the year.
First X-Men casting announcements
Marvel followed San Diego Comic Con with their own event, D23 2026, where they introduced the world to a new generation of X-Men. Sadie Sink made her debut as Jean Grey in the box office juggernaut Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but Marvel supremo Kevin Feige revealed that she will be joined by Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarette as Rogue and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. It seems they will be facing off against Adam Driver's Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mr. Sinister.
VisionQuest in October
Marvel also released the trailer for their next TV show — VisionQuest — which explores what happened to the Vision after the events of WandaVision. Star Trek fans will be very familiar with showrunner Terry Matalas, who took the helm for the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard. The show debuts on Disney+ on 14th October.
STAR TREK
BEN'S CONVENTION, STAR TREK DAY, AND THE D BRIDGE FOLLOW-UP
Ben's been on the road for us, and September brings the biggest date in the Trek calendar.
Ben on the ground — the convention debrief
Our Creative Director Ben Robinson has been representing Master Replicas on the convention circuit through August, meeting collaborators, hearing directly from the community, and — among other conversations — catching up with Liz Kloczkowski (whose Rebuilding the Bridge book on the Star Trek: Picard Enterprise-D rebuild we featured in the May newsletter).
He was at Vegas's annual Star Trek convention — STLV Trek to Vegas — where he caught up with lots of people. He reports that the show was as busy as he's ever seen it, and that the highlight was getting to see the original 33" model of the Enterprise that was built during the first pilot, "The Cage", and featured in some famous publicity shots.
That Enterprise model had been missing for decades before it turned up in 2024 and Roddenberry Enterprises managed to secure its return. Since then, they've started restoration work and are planning to send it off on tour.

Star Trek Day — Tuesday 8 September
Tuesday 8 September is Star Trek Day, the annual global celebration of everything Star Trek, now in its 60th anniversary year. Paramount has confirmed a yearlong programme of anniversary activity anchored at StarTrek.com/60. Around Star Trek Day itself, a lot is happening publicly:
- Star Trek: The Last Starship Vol. 1 (IDW) — publishes on Star Trek Day itself, 8th September.
- Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special (IDW anthology, 68 pages, Bendis / North / McMahan / Allred and more) — publishes 2nd September.
- Strange New Worlds Season 4, Episode 8 — "Orders of Magnitude" — Paramount+, Thursday 10th September.
- The Sixty-Year Mission — a theatrical documentary on 60 years of Trek, featuring William Shatner, Walter Koenig and George Takei — hits Regal cinemas 9th October.
- Magic: The Gathering — Star Trek (Universes Beyond) — prereleases 6th–12th November, launch 13th November.

BLADE RUNNER 2099 25TH NOVEMBER, ALL EIGHT EPISODES
Prime Video has confirmed the premiere date, and the story picks up 50 years after the last film. Plus a Master Replicas product tease.
Prime Video has now confirmed a release date: Tuesday 25th November 2026. All eight episodes land at once, in more than 240 countries — a full-binge premiere.
The set-up: fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, Los Angeles has been reborn — just not by humanity. Cora (Hunter Schafer), a fugitive on the run, takes on one final identity: a Blade Runner. Olwen (Michelle Yeoh) is a Replicant facing the end of her life. Alongside them: Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, plus Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim and Matthew Needham in recurring roles.

For our community: we will have Blade Runner 2099-related product coming later this year. SPACE: 1999
BREAKAWAY DAY, SUNDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER
The day the Moon left Earth's orbit. A full day of Space: 1999 on masterreplicas.com — plus something new dropping the Thursday before.
What Breakaway Day is
For anyone new to Space: 1999: on 13th September 1999, in the story, a nuclear waste explosion at Disposal Area Two on the Moon blows the entire Moon — and the 311 personnel of Moonbase Alpha — clean out of Earth's orbit and into a two-season odyssey through the galaxy. It is one of the great acts of world-building in 1970s British sci-fi, and 13th September has been marked by fans as Breakaway Day ever since. This year, it falls on a Sunday — perfect for a proper community moment.

648 of you filled out the Stargate Wish List survey during Stargate Week. First — thank you. Second — here is what you told us.
In July we opened up the Stargate roadmap directly to the people who buy from us. 648 of you responded — 390 in the UK, 258 in the US — during a busy Stargate Week that took in the Serpent Guard (Apophis) Jaffa Helmet launch, our Dial the Gate visit, and everything in between. Before we say anything else: thank you. This is the kind of engagement that shapes a range.
Rather than sit on the findings, we want to give you a proper response. Here are the clearest signals — and what we are taking away.
The ships you want us to build
Four ships separated out at the top, each wanted by more than half of you:
- Aurora-class Ancient Warship — 57%
- Wraith Hive Ship — 56%
- Ori Warship — 55%
- O'Neill Ship — 53%
The BC-304 variants (Daedalus, Odyssey, Apollo, George Hammond) came in at 17–24% each — a solid block of interest across the Earth-built fleet. And on the Wraith side, the Hive (56%), Dart (42%) and Cruiser (41%) all polled high, so Atlantis-era hostile fleet demand is real. We're taking all of this in — no promises on what any of it becomes, but it's on the board.
The prop you asked for above everything
The Zat'nik'tel at 62% is the single most-wanted item in the entire survey. No other prop even came close. Message received.
The format aspiration — the gate itself
50% you want a full-scale Stargate replica. That is a serious commitment on our side to scope, but it is also a serious commitment on your side to want it — we are looking at it.
The Atlantis truth
Here is the standout finding. 76% of you love the Atlantis era — dead level with SG-1's early seasons — and yet Atlantis barely features in our current range. The free-text comments made this even louder: Atlantis was mentioned 159 times across the 373 substantive comments, over and over asking specifically for the Atlantis city-ship. This is the clearest unmet-demand signal in the survey. We are listening.
What happens next
A few clear priorities coming out of this:
- Prioritise the Aurora-class, Wraith Hive and Ori Warship as the next ship releases.
- Move on the Zat'nik'tel — the outright winner in props.
- Take a serious look at Atlantis — beginning with the Atlantis city-ship.
- Scope the full-scale Stargate properly. We will be honest about what is possible when we know.
And a heads-up in this issue's Sneak Peeks section (below): the O'Neill Ship and Kino Ball are already in the pipeline, and the Tel'tak is coming later in the year — three items straight from your survey answers.
One last thing. 591 of you — that's 92% — asked to be first in line when the products this survey shapes go on sale. We are building that list carefully and cleanly, and when the first green-lit product from this survey is ready, that is the audience it will go to first. Thank you, again.

Meet Bernie
We have a new person managing customer services for us: Bernie. If you have been in touch with us over the last few weeks, you will hopefully have noticed a step-change in how we're communicating — faster responses, more proactive updates on orders, and a clearer sense that someone on our side is actually organising it all. That's Bernie.

We completely understand why people started coming to us via Facebook and socials in the first place — for a period, that was where you could actually get a response. But covering enquiries across so many touch points is making it materially harder for Bernie to give any single enquiry the attention it deserves. Consolidating on email means faster, better, more consistent responses for everyone.
Response time — and what's next
Due to the volume of enquiries, we are currently working to a 72-hour response window. That is not where we want to be long-term — we are actively looking at new systems to help support this — but it is a realistic and honest number for right now. Bernie will do her absolute best to respond within it, and often faster.

AT THE CINEMA
A properly busy month at the multiplex — Spider-Man's rewriting the record books, two big August originals, a Star Trek re-release for the 60th, and September horror.
THE FILM THAT BROKE THE RECORD BOOK
Spider-Man: Brand New Day 31st July
Since we teased it last issue, Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened on 31st July and immediately rewrote the box-office record book. It took $72m in previews (a new record), $169.8m on opening day (a new record), and $360m over the opening weekend domestically — the biggest opening weekend in cinema history, finally dethroning Avengers: Endgame's $357m (2019). It became the second-fastest film ever to $1 billion global and set a new Rotten Tomatoes audience score for Tom Holland's four Spidey films (critics landed at 90% — the lowest of the four, but consistently praised as "the most mature"). If you had Spider-Man as the film that dethroned Endgame on your 2026 bingo card, congratulations.

The End of Oak Street 14th August
Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), produced by J.J. Abrams. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead — with Maisy Stella and Christian Convery — in a 1980s-set suburban sci-fi where a cosmic event lifts a neighbourhood off Earth and drops it somewhere else. Yes, there are dinosaurs. Shot in IMAX. Formerly Flowervale Street.

The Dog Stars 28th August
Ridley Scott's first sci-fi film in nine years — since Alien: Covenant. Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin lead, with Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce. Adapted from Peter Heller's 2012 novel — a former pilot (Hig) and an ex-Marine (Bangley) surviving in post-pandemic Denver. $110m budget from 20th Century Studios. If you liked The Road, this is squarely in your neighbourhood.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home UK: 4th September (Selected Odeon)
Timed to the Star Trek 60th and Star Trek Day, Paramount is putting Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home back on the big screen in a new 4K restoration from 4th September 2026. Resident Evil 18th September
The horror-auteur reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise, directed by Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons). Austin Abrams, Kali Reis, Zach Cherry and Paul Walter Hauser star. Premise: a medical courier caught in a single horrifying night as chaos spreads, set alongside the events of Resident Evil 2. First proper theatrical Resident Evil in the Cregger mould — a hard reset after decades of the Anderson-era films.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4
Paramount+, weekly on Thursdays through 24 September. The finale — "Tomorrow's Enterprise" — lands on the 24th. Big season.
Silo Season 3

Dark Matter Season 2
Apple TV+, late August. The hard-sci-fi companion piece to Silo comes back for its second run — one of the best-reviewed Apple sci-fi shows of the last two years.

IN THE GAMES ROOM
The August headline is a first — a proper Star Wars tactics game
Star Wars: Zero Company 27th August 2026
This one is worth flagging properly. Star Wars: Zero Company is the first Star Wars XCOM-style tactics game — single-player, turn-based, set in the Clone Wars era. You command Hawks, an ex-Republic officer leading a squad of mercenaries and specialists across the galaxy. Developed by Bit Reactor (a studio of ex-Firaxis developers — the people behind XCOM and Marvel's Midnight Suns) with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. Out 27th August on PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you were an XCOM devotee, this is very much your thing.
Beast of Reincarnation Game Freak's biggest new IP in years
Also worth flagging: Beast of Reincarnation — a brand-new, post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy action-RPG from Game Freak (the studio behind Pokémon). It is being talked about as their most ambitious original IP in more than a decade. Launches on PS5 and Switch 2 in August.
Halo: Campaign Evolved one month on
For anyone who picked up Halo: Campaign Evolved when it launched on 28 July, the community reception has been overwhelmingly warm — the modern-visuals rebuild of the original Halo: Combat Evolved has landed particularly well on PS5, which received Master Chief as a mainline campaign for the first time ever.

A note on where we are with the wider commitments we've made to the community — and one important thing to know about how our orders currently ship.
How your order ships today
One thing worth making really clear. At present, we only ship an order once every item in it is in stock. That means if you place an order with, say, two items that are in stock and one that's on presale, the in-stock items will not ship to you until the presale item arrives at our warehouse. This has been catching people out, and we understand the frustration.
It is not a perfect system, and it is not where we want to land. We are actively looking at split shipment — the sort of thing Amazon does, where you can choose at checkout whether to receive everything together, or have items shipped as and when they are ready. This is on our list. It is not solved yet.

The wider picture
The customer services shift covered above (Meet Bernie / email-first / 72-hour response) is one of the concrete steps we're taking on the transparency commitments we made in June. The tech back-end investment is signed off and moving; the website work is progressing; the customer services team has grown; and we continue to look at new systems to support all of the above.
We know there is still real mistrust in parts of the community — and honestly, we are still getting plenty wrong. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can commit to is being honest about where we are, showing up in every issue with what has actually moved, and continuing to make the changes that matter.
